Our life does not move without clocks. They are a part of our life. It is very difficult to know the time if there are no clocks. Clocks are an important article in every household and workplace. To cut energy use, China has decided to close down its old inefficient plants and replace it with more efficient, high tech units. The Chinese government has orders more than 2,000 cement, steel and dyeing factories to close down outdated manufacturing units in a large-scale effort to reduce energy inefficiencies. Only 12 factories will have to close down entirely. The units were deemed either highly energy inefficient or lacking safety standards. The Chinese government is facing an increasingly difficult challenge to meet its target of reducing its energy intensity, or energy consumption per unit of GDP, by 20% by the end of this year.
The energy intensity increased by 0.09% in the first six months of 2010, marking a change from a trend of falling energy intensity between 2006 and 2009.
